Ken W. Kelly (May 19, 1946 – June 2, 2022) was an American fantasy artist.
Over his 50-year career, he focused in particular on paintings in the sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy subgenres.
His Major Works were:
Album Covers: Kelly created iconic heavy metal and rock album art, most notably KISS's Destroyer (1976) and Love Gun (1977), Rainbow's Rising (1976), and numerous covers for Manowar (including Fighting the World and Kings of Metal).
Magazines: During the 1970s, he was a primary cover artist for Warren Publishing’s horror and fantasy magazines like Creepy and Eerie.
Heroic Fantasy & Books: He painted definitive covers for Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian and Solomon Kane, Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan, and Robert Adams' Horseclans series.
Toys and Games: Kelly designed product and packaging art for toy lines like Mattel's He-Man and Mego's Micronauts, as well as video game cover art like Witch (1995).
Kelly was a guest at the Kiss by Monster Mini Golf course in Las Vegas, Nevada, doing autograph signings of prints for the classic Kiss albums he drew cover artwork for.
