This is a great opportunity to acquire an authentic autograph of Carl Newman (in person signed, 10"x8").
Carl Newman is an English professionally-trained dancer with nicknamed "Ballet Bat" who was the 'Movement Double' for Michael Keaton in the 1989 blockbuster feature film 'Batman'.
Jack Nicholson gave Carl Newman the nickname "Ballet Bat" during the 11-week shoot at Pinewood Studios.
Newman wore the heavy 70-pound rubber Batsuit to test its flexibility and film key movement shots for director Tim Burton.
He is known for Batman (1989), Norbert Smith, a Life (1989), Cine Fear (2024) and Josie (1991).
After principal photography wrapped Newman did photoshoots on the standing sets at Pinewood to promote the movie. David Gamble photograghed Newman for LIFE magazine, posing him with Bob Ringwood and Anton Furst. Newman appeared in other magazines such as Time Out and Bravo. Newman is also the only double to have his portrait taken by Herb Ritts.
The picture is in excellent condition, comes with COA and could make a nice addition to any collection. The watermark 'Affordable Celebrity Autographs' does not appear on original photo. The picture was signed and obtained in person on Saturday 28th March 2026 at Hopetown Comic Con in Darlington.
